Abstract

Sustainability is centered upon maintaining equilibrium between environmental, economic and social factors. It is related to project management lately because it requires a change and projects are always changing. This ultimately results in hitting the triple constraints to face cost overruns, compromised quality and delays in schedule of a project. The focus of this research is to explore the impact of sustainability on project success in construction projects in light of project complexity playing a role of moderator between the relationships of these two. To achieve the objectives, organizations executing such projects were surveyed within Pakistan. For this research, survey was conducted by distributing a questionnaire to Construction firms. The results depicted that sustainability has a positive impact on project success whereas project complexity negatively moderates the relationship between sustainability and project success. It was suggested to organizations working in construction industry to implement sustainability measures in their projects to achieve the better results for project success. Also, project managers should improve the efficiency of sustainable practices to reduce the impact of complexity involved.
