The Effect of Authentic Leadership on Employee Work outcome in Public Hospitals of Peshawar: Mediating Role of Employee Empowerment
Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the effect of authentic leadership on work
outcomes with mediating role of empowerment. Data was collected from
healthcare sector of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Peshawar with a sample size of two
hundred and ten medical professionals in four hospitals of district Peshawar.
Purposive sampling technique was used to select the sample respondents. The
results of the study revealed that authentic leadership has positive and
significant effect on work outcomes such as organizational citizenship behavior,
employee performance and job satisfaction. Mediation results show that
Empowerment partially mediates the relationship of authentic leadership with
organizational citizenship behavior and job satisfaction while full mediation
support was found with employee performance. This study addresses that
authentic leadership and its interplay with empowerment predicts important
outcomes in new cultural setting.
